Parents-Kids Drama in Flights
Flights, especially night flights over long distances such as transcontinental flights can be full of drama. Drama involving parents with kids are frequent and may be comical and at times provocative. Most common drama on flights happens to parents who forget to carry some essentials that they would require to take care of their children.
It’s not a surprise to find a mother who forgot to carry diapers for her baby and thus will have to unsuccessfully request the flight attendants for some help. With no help on sight, the mother may attempt to recycle already used diapers or interestingly result to improvising some clothes to act as diapers.
At times, in case the baby urinates or poops, the mother might start cursing or admonishing her for bad behaviors. You end up wondering how a mother with a little kid can forget essential items like diapers. Sometimes breastfeeding mothers find it necessary to nurse their children, but you bet how stressful it is to do so in public. Often such mothers will be advised by flight attendants to use the bathroom, which may not be convenient to them.
There is also a group of women who don’t care and will start breastfeeding their baby publicly before other passengers. They are at times ignorant to flight attendants or other crew who may advise them against the action but mostly will retort that they have the right to breastfeed their body anywhere. Given this is a flight, there is no way to ask such a mother to leave the place as is commonly done to other places on the ground.
There are some kids who are rowdy and will constantly disturb other passengers by kicking seats, throwing objects in the air and shouting while others will cry constantly. The funny thing is that parents accompanying such kids seem to be oblivious of what the kids are doing and won’t even stop them from causing chaos during the flight. During sleep time, such kids may be a nuisance as they disturb other passengers with their crying or childish activities. At times during sleeps, some kids may be bed-wetters, thus causing more problems in the flight.
Also planes which have insufficient space for sleeping will be chaotic when parents want their children to have some rest and may cause friction with flight attendants if they don’t agree on where the baby/kids are supposed to sleep. Often mothers will want their kids to sleep in their sight and this may be impossible causing disagreements.
There are parents who may be having some marital problems and result to arguing in case the kids are involved in any behavior in the plane and end up disrupting peace, a behavior which the flight attendants find unacceptable. This can lead to dramas while on flight.
There are children who may puke or even decide to pee while on board, especially 2-4 years old. This may lead to discomfort for other passengers as well as their parents who will have to clean up the mess.
